Ebru Timtik

On 7 September we observed a minute of silence in front of our office to commemorate lawyer Ebru Timtik (42) from Turkey. Ebru died on 27 August 2020 in Turkish captivity after a hunger strike of 238 days which she started to strengthen her demand for a fair trial. Ebru was one of 18 lawyers convicted to long prison sentences on 20 March 2018. The 18 lawyers assisted critics of the Turkish regime.

This silent protest was initiated by the Amsterdam Bar Association, the Federation of European Bar Associations and Lawyers for Lawyers (L4L).
